Just joined and have lots of questions... Go figure...


I am considering an airboat to replace my small bowrider for a fun boat.....

I also have an old Cobalt Cuddy for comfort on the Chain O Lakes.....Northern Illinois.

The airboat would primarily be used for Spring and Fall when water levels are low, and maybe a few Winter jaunts on the lakes and river.....

Looking for good references to draw upon for research.....in my limited research in the last week or so, I've noticed several configurations, and need to know how to define them so I know what's right for me. (deck over, fishing, etc.) I don't fish, don't generally have people on my boat...although a passenger or two isn't out of the norm here and there.

References would need to define the pros and cons of AC (aircraft) engines versus automotive-type powerplants.....reliability, cost to run, cost of repair, availability of parts/mechanics, etc.

Since I'm not swamping, an elevated seat configuration isn't necessary. I read something about running "dry". Guessing that means the ability to cover some dry land. Again, references would help with this total newb.
